Ahhhh Denver, born and raised here, maybe I am biased. Hundreds of miles of bike trails, the most parks per capita than any other city, mountains just minutes away, more days of sunshine than any other US city… Denver is a great town. My mothers family has origins in Southern Colorado, the San Luis Valley, that predate Colorado’s statehood. Colorado has a rich heritage and it should be treasured.
Besides the outdoor options there is so much to do in Denver.
For those of you who don’t mind walking and enjoy being outside: Walk the 16th Street Mall, head to South Pearl Street, Cherry Creek Farmers Market, DU neighborhood, Washington Park
For Family Fun: Elitch Gardens, Water World, Boondocks, Childrens Museum, Denver Aquarium, Firefighter Museum
Want to take a short drive up I-70 into the gorgeous Rocky Mountains: Buffalo Bills Grave @ Lookout Mountain, Evergreen, Idaho Springs, Georgetown, Dillon and Breckenridge
Like to gamble: Head up to Central City, Blackhawk or down to Cripple Creek
Like to climb: Colorado has over 50 14ers! That’s right there are over fifty – fourteeners! Which are mountains over 14,000 ft. Here is a link to an excellent Colorado 14er list.
