AFC Showdown Broncos vs Patriots

Denver BroncosHow big is the Broncos game this Sunday against the New England Patriots? It’s so big people are treating it almost like a playoff game.

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots come to town to face Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos at Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium for what is considered a huge game in the AFC.

Tom vs. Tim. Brady’s Patriots offense is a scoring machine likely to test Denver’s defense to the limits. What’s interesting is how New England has pulled off a 10-3 record despite having the lowest ranked defense in the league as far as giving up yardage is concerned.

But make no mistake, the Patriots defense might give up yards but they are good at creating turnovers and stuffing teams in the red zone.

This is a great matchup indeed. CBS and NBC fought over the rights to this game.

Analysts said the Jets would beat the Broncos, they didn’t. They said the Broncos couldn’t win in a shootout but they did against the Vikings. They said the Broncos couldn’t beat the Bears, they did. Which is perhaps why you don’t always listen to what “they” say.

Tim Tebow doesn’t. They said he couldn’t start in the NFL. When he did it changed to he couldn’t win in the NFL. The Broncos record with Tebow starting this season is 7-1, without him it was 1-4.

The Denver Broncos didn’t listen to the skeptics. They believe. They believe they can win, right here right now. Tim Tebow retweeted the following tweet from defensive teammate Brian Dawkins.

ths is nothing new. But it's the truth T.E.A.M T ogether E verybody A chieves M ore. #BIDB Believe In Dem Broncos

Can the Broncos beat the Patriots tomorrow? They believe they can. I believe they can. I certainly wouldn’t bet against it happening.

Muhammad Ali and Tim Tebow

When Muhammad Ali became a professional boxer there was a lot of talk before his first championship bout against Sonny Liston that went something like this: “He can’t win a championship the way he fights.” “He’s fast but he has no defense he will lose to the top fighters.” “He can’t get away with the stuff he does, holding his hands low, moving backwards away from punches… he’s going to get killed.” In fact, The New York Times’ regular boxing writer Joe Nichols declined to cover the fight, assuming it was just a mismatch and by fight time, Ali, fighting then as Cassius Clay, was a huge underdog.

Uh huh. Rigggggght. Those were the words of professional boxing analysts before Muhammad Ali proved them all wrong. Almost every boxing scribe and expert picked Liston to win but it was Ali who would win the fight and the rest is history.

Sound familiar? How many times have you heard an NFL analyst say Tim Tebow can’t play in the NFL? Remember what Merrill Hoge had to say? That “it’s embarassing to think the Broncos could win with Tebow!!” Looks like Hoge is going to have to eat his words.

Last night the Jets defense did a wonderful job stuffing the Broncos offense and held the Broncos top running back in the game, Lance Ball, to just 18 yards.

The Jets special teams came up big pinning the Broncos at their own 5 yard line late in the game while protecting their 13 – 10 lead over Denver.

Then something happened, the unconvential quarterback, Tim Tebow, the one experts say can’t play in the NFL, passed for first downs, ran for more and then ran right past the Jets all-blitz defense for a 20 yard game wining touchdown.

John Elway clapped and whistled from his executive suite at Sports Authority Field but he looked as shocked as the Jets were.

Tim Tebow did it again. Thanks much in part to the Broncos defense which kept them in the game. In fact it was an Andre Goodman interception for a touchdown that tied the game at 10 apiece.

Tim Tebow, like Muhammad Ali, may not be prototypical, his passes might not look like the other top quarterbacks in the league, but at the end of the day the common goal is to win… and that’s what he does best.

Jets vs Broncos Won’t Be Boring

Denver BroncosThe New York Jet (5-4) fly into Denver to face the Broncos (4-5) for NFL’s Thursday night game.

The script couldn’t have been written any better. The Broncos are coming off back-to-back road wins over the Raiders and Chiefs to face a stiff Jets defense that has a head coach, Rex Ryan, who literally wrote the book (Coaching Football’s 46 Defense) which devotes an entire chapter on how to stop the option.

The new Broncos offense with Tim Tebow under center is averaging 220 yards rushing per game. That doesn’t worry Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis though, the only thing he says he’s worried about is getting “bored.”

Don’t worry Darrelle, this game should be anything but boring.

Call the Broncos offense ancient, call it a college offense, you can call it whatever you want but the fact remains the Broncos have turned their season around and are winning with it. It’s Tim Tebow’s style of offense and he’s good at running it.

Broncos head coach John Fox recently commented that “If we were trying to run a regular offense, he’d (Tim Tebow) be screwed.” He wasn’t bashing Tebow he was just being honest. To understand what he means Steve Mariucci said “If Tom Brady was running their offense he’d be screwed.”

Some key factors in the game for the Broncos will be the availability of Willis McGahee, their leading rusher who is considered “limited” for the game due to a leg injury he suffered in the first half against the Chiefs.

The Jets will be expected to put a heavy emphasis on stopping the run and will have to in order to win. The Jets offense will be facing a tough pass rush from the Broncos defense led by rookie Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil so Mark Sanchez is going to have to be on top of his game.

Tim Tebow Back In The Saddle Again: Poll

Tim Tebow Time

The Dubious Mockery: Tim Tebow on the clock

The wait is over for the 25th overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft. It’s officially Tim Tebow time which has casused a stir not just in Denver, but nation wide.

The Miami Dolphins will be hosting the Denver Broncos this Sunday and have reportedly sold an extra 10,000 tickets upon the news that Tim Tebow would be the starter for the Broncos.

Kyle Orton is known as a game manager slash Trent Dilfer style of QB and after the losses continued to mount he was replaced at half time in the Broncos last game against the Chargers. One thing is certain, this has become some what of a polarizing situation.

Broncos fans want to win, of course, but many feel like that wasn’t going to happen with Kyle Orton under center and some still feel that won’t happen with Tebow who has had his fair share of criticism about whether or not he can be a full time NFL quarterback.

Kyle Orton has his share of critics too, mostly for not being able to come from behind or make plays happen under pressure which has contributed to the mounting losses. To throw another wrench into the mix the Broncos #1 reciever, Brandon Lloyd, was traded to the St. Louis Rams where he can be re-united with former Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels who is now the offensive coordinator for the Rams.

The Broncos have a 1 – 4 record and are dead last in the AFC west. With 11 games remaining how many do you think the Broncos will win with Tim Tebow now the starter?

How many games will the Broncos win this season?

Broncos Fans Want Answers

Let the guessing begin. Broncos fans have some serious questions for the Denver Broncos coaching staff and front office after a lopsided loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Packers 49 Broncos 23

They want to know if Tim Tebow is being benched so that he cannot realize a salary increase for taking so many snaps this year?

Is John Elway sold on Andrew Luck to the point of being the worst team in the league so that the Broncos can draft him?

Was John Fox ordered to keep Tebow off the field as much as possible?

Why are John Elway and John Fox so sold on Kyle Orton who has a 6 – 21 record in his last 27 games?

One Carolina Panther fan wrote on the Denver Post Broncos message board that “When it was announced he (John Fox) would be your head coach, I told anyone who would listen, that Denver fans are different than us. They’ve had that team forever and they’re not going to put up with his crap there. He’ll be out in a year.” Posted by pantherphanohyeah

The Broncos are 1-3 and were very close to being 0 – 4. The win in Cincinatti was in jeapardy when Orton couldn’t close the show. Fortunately, the Broncos defense held up in that game.

If it’s not Tebow time then when will it be? There are signs up around Denver urging the Broncos to start Tim Tebow. There’s at least one Facebook page (No-Show for Tebow) also calling for a QB change. Making the switch at QB won’t make John Fox look bad, it would actually make him look like he cares about winning and cares about the fans in Denver.

Kyle Orton Strikes Again

Kyle Orton strikes out that is.

If the Denver Broncos wanted to win all they had to do different this season is start Tim Tebow. Had the Broncos been playing Tebow it says right here they would be 3 – 0 instead of 1 – 2.

Kyle Orton doesn’t win games. Historically and factually speaking, Orton went 3 – 10 last season and is looking to duplicate that performance this year.

Kyle Orton

Kyle Orton

It’s not a surprise to anybody when the Broncos lose, what’s surprising is that the Broncos front office continues to rely on Kyle Orton who is now 4 – 12 his last 16 games. Orton has not won a playoff game yet either.

At this stage in his career John Elway was taking an average team to back-to-back Superbowls. Orton can’t make the playoffs.

To say Tim Tebow can’t play is the reason they stick with Orton is cannon fodder. Everyone has seen Tebow out play Orton in real games. Orton practices good is the banter out of Dove Valley. What? Practices good? He loses games people.

The majority of Broncos fans wanted Tim Tebow to continue to start for the Broncos at QB since he took over for the struggling Orton last season. It looked like that would be the case when Orton was almost traded to Miami who appeared to get cold-feet and walk out of the deal.

Jake Plummer had a winning record in Denver and was pulled for Jay Cutler. The fans chose Cutler when it came down to the Orton trade. Now they just want Tebow to start. Why not? The Broncos aren’t winning with Orton.
