The New England Patriots are world champions after defeated the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime. Records fell like rain from the sky as Tom Brady and Bill Belichick earned their 5th Super Bowl ring with the Patriots.
This was the first Super Bowl to go into overtime. It was also the largest come from behind victory in Super Bowl history with the Patriots once trailing the Falcons 28-3.
Tom Brady set numerous records including pass yards (466) breaking Kurt Warner’s previous record of (414). Most completions (43) breaking his own previous record of (37). Brady becomes the only quarterback to win five Super Bowls. Belichick and Brady become the only head coach and quarterback to win five Super Bowls. Brady becomes the only player in NFL history to earn four MVP’s in the big game.
Patriots running back James White set the record for most receptions (14) previous record held by Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas (13).
