John Fox became the 14th head coach in Denver Broncos history today. John Elway made the announcement via Twitter.
Elway also added “We couldn’t be more excited to have him lead the Denver Broncos.” And the Broncos starting quarterback Tim Tebow tweeted “Welcome to Denver Coach Fox! Can’t wait to get to work with you!!!”
Now there’s two John’s in Denver. John the coach said he is thrilled “to coach a football team with such a proud tradition. The Broncos have a culture of winning, and I am excited to continue that legacy.”
The new Broncos coach is at work putting a staff together. It will be interesting to find out who the offensive and defensive coordinators will be.
Head coaching changes in Denver have been pretty rare for the last 28 years. There’s only been Dan Reeves, Wade Phillips, Mike Shanahan and Josh McDaniel’s in that time span.
Hopefully Fox’s tenure will last a lot longer than his predecessor and he can restore the Broncos to Superbowl champions.
