The Tennessee Titans fell to the Denver Broncos by a score of 26-20. It was a hard fought game in which the Titans defense managed a season high six sacks and one interception.
Oh, and the Titans defense held the Broncos to only 16 yards rushing, 11 of those yards are credited to Denver’s starting QB Kyle Orton.
A win is a win in the NFL they will tell you. Fine. But the Broncos have lost to the Colts and Jaquars. It’s hard to believe the wins will continue to mount if the Broncos offense cannot score inside the red zone where they have struggled big time.
The Broncos have to be really happy to have come out with a victory on the road considering those statistics.
Of course a healthy Knowshon Moreno is the Broncos quickest and easiest way to improve the run game. Moreno was hampered with injuries during the pre-season and did not play against the Titans.
Laurence Maroney has not been able to punch the ball in from the goal line and are you ready for this? In his two games with the Broncos Maroney has rushed for only 29 yards averaging a paltry 1.3 yards per carry.
I don’t know for sure but would bet anything that has to be the lowest average in the NFL. Hopefully Knowshon can return soon because the Broncos really need him.
Starting RT Ryan Harris came back last week as well so that addition should bode well for the hopes of the offense, once he gets back into the flow of things. In 2009, the Broncos were 6-1 in games that Harris started and only 2-7 in the games he missed due to injury.
