Tim Tebow Back In The Saddle Again: Poll

Tim Tebow Time

The Dubious Mockery: Tim Tebow on the clock

The wait is over for the 25th overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft. It’s officially Tim Tebow time which has casused a stir not just in Denver, but nation wide.

The Miami Dolphins will be hosting the Denver Broncos this Sunday and have reportedly sold an extra 10,000 tickets upon the news that Tim Tebow would be the starter for the Broncos.

Kyle Orton is known as a game manager slash Trent Dilfer style of QB and after the losses continued to mount he was replaced at half time in the Broncos last game against the Chargers. One thing is certain, this has become some what of a polarizing situation.

Broncos fans want to win, of course, but many feel like that wasn’t going to happen with Kyle Orton under center and some still feel that won’t happen with Tebow who has had his fair share of criticism about whether or not he can be a full time NFL quarterback.

Kyle Orton has his share of critics too, mostly for not being able to come from behind or make plays happen under pressure which has contributed to the mounting losses. To throw another wrench into the mix the Broncos #1 reciever, Brandon Lloyd, was traded to the St. Louis Rams where he can be re-united with former Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels who is now the offensive coordinator for the Rams.

The Broncos have a 1 – 4 record and are dead last in the AFC west. With 11 games remaining how many do you think the Broncos will win with Tim Tebow now the starter?

How many games will the Broncos win this season?

Broncos Fans Want Answers

Let the guessing begin. Broncos fans have some serious questions for the Denver Broncos coaching staff and front office after a lopsided loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Packers 49 Broncos 23

They want to know if Tim Tebow is being benched so that he cannot realize a salary increase for taking so many snaps this year?

Is John Elway sold on Andrew Luck to the point of being the worst team in the league so that the Broncos can draft him?

Was John Fox ordered to keep Tebow off the field as much as possible?

Why are John Elway and John Fox so sold on Kyle Orton who has a 6 – 21 record in his last 27 games?

One Carolina Panther fan wrote on the Denver Post Broncos message board that “When it was announced he (John Fox) would be your head coach, I told anyone who would listen, that Denver fans are different than us. They’ve had that team forever and they’re not going to put up with his crap there. He’ll be out in a year.” Posted by pantherphanohyeah

The Broncos are 1-3 and were very close to being 0 – 4. The win in Cincinatti was in jeapardy when Orton couldn’t close the show. Fortunately, the Broncos defense held up in that game.

If it’s not Tebow time then when will it be? There are signs up around Denver urging the Broncos to start Tim Tebow. There’s at least one Facebook page (No-Show for Tebow) also calling for a QB change. Making the switch at QB won’t make John Fox look bad, it would actually make him look like he cares about winning and cares about the fans in Denver.

Kyle Orton Strikes Again

Kyle Orton strikes out that is.

If the Denver Broncos wanted to win all they had to do different this season is start Tim Tebow. Had the Broncos been playing Tebow it says right here they would be 3 – 0 instead of 1 – 2.

Kyle Orton doesn’t win games. Historically and factually speaking, Orton went 3 – 10 last season and is looking to duplicate that performance this year.

Kyle Orton

Kyle Orton

It’s not a surprise to anybody when the Broncos lose, what’s surprising is that the Broncos front office continues to rely on Kyle Orton who is now 4 – 12 his last 16 games. Orton has not won a playoff game yet either.

At this stage in his career John Elway was taking an average team to back-to-back Superbowls. Orton can’t make the playoffs.

To say Tim Tebow can’t play is the reason they stick with Orton is cannon fodder. Everyone has seen Tebow out play Orton in real games. Orton practices good is the banter out of Dove Valley. What? Practices good? He loses games people.

The majority of Broncos fans wanted Tim Tebow to continue to start for the Broncos at QB since he took over for the struggling Orton last season. It looked like that would be the case when Orton was almost traded to Miami who appeared to get cold-feet and walk out of the deal.

Jake Plummer had a winning record in Denver and was pulled for Jay Cutler. The fans chose Cutler when it came down to the Orton trade. Now they just want Tebow to start. Why not? The Broncos aren’t winning with Orton.

Truth About Orton and Tebow

John Fox Orton or TebowIn the three games Tim Tebow started last season when he replaced the 3-10 Kyle Orton he averaged MORE points per game than the veteran QB.

Tebow has shown that he can make NFL throws as he boasts the highest QB rating out of Brady Quinn, Kyle Orton and himself. So why do the Broncos brass insist on starting Kyle Orton whom most Broncos fans have wanted replaced since he was benched last season?

I don’t know the answer. It’s weird. We know what Kyle Orton can and can’t do but with Tebow nobody knows because the Broncos are refusing to start him even though he has proven himself capable.

I have never seen a team so stubborn in replacing a sub-par, losing QB. Orton doesn’t win. Orton can’t make a comeback if his life depended on it. It’s proven. It’s in the books.

Tim Tebow is by very definition a winner. That’s what he does. John Fox, I’ll say it right here, should have kept to his word that the QB position was an open competition, if that’s the case then hold up your end of the bargain and start Tim Tebow.

The vast majority of Denver Broncos fans want Tim Tebow to play so they can see what one of the greatest players in college history can do in a full NFL season as the starter with the team built around him and his style of play.

It says right here with Tebow starting the Broncos win more games than with Orton who has proven in Denver he loses more than he wins.

To Play Or Not To Play Tim Tebow

In late November of 2006, then Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahn benched starting quarterback Jake Plummer in leiu of rookie Jay Cutler.

Plummer says it’s because Mike Shanahan is still searching for the next John Elway, but Plummer’s seemingly early retirement from the league following that season says Shanahan may have noticed Plummer was ready to hang it up and went with his young gun in Cutler.

Flash forward to 2010 – enter Tim Tebow.

New head coach Josh McDaniel’s takes over – trades Jay Cutler for Kyle Orton – acquires Chris Simms, Brady Quinn, wants Matt Cassell and wheels n deals to draft Tim Tebow in the 1st round.

Tebow plays, sparingly. He played well enough in his spare time duties against Kansas City to earn AFC rookie of the week honors.

So why not play Tebow more? That’s the 15 million dollar question right now in Denver.

There’s plenty of speculation. It’s because Kyle Orton is making a pro-bowl run and for 11 games was on pace to break the Broncos single season passing record for yards.

Despite Orton’s efforts the Broncos are 3-10 and when you have a two-time National champion, Heisman trophy winning 1st round draft pick rearing to shoot out of the gate…

You play Tebow less and Orton more? That’s currently what the Denver Broncos are doing.

But rumor also has it that Tim Tebow will probably start, or play significantly more in the Broncos home game against the Houston Texans…we’ll see!

We’re Back in Kansas Toto

Denver BroncosFor Dorothy and Toto being in Kansas is a good thing but the Denver Broncos (3-8) have to play the Chiefs (7-4) in Kansas City, Missouri which is usually a nightmare. The last time the Broncos played at Arrowhead stadium they lost 44-24 and Jamaal Charles nearly broke the NFL single game rushing record with 259 yards on the ground.

This year the tide seemingly turned when Denver put on a 49-29 drubbing of the Chiefs at INVESCO field. But did it?

McSpygate II wasn’t publicly known until a couple weeks after Denver’s big win against K.C. Which also might shed light on the Todd Haley post game fiasco.

Haley reportedly told McDaniel’s “people are talking a lot of (expletive) about you,” make of that what you will. Conspiracy theorists have had a hay day with that one.

What is clear is that Haley and the Chiefs want revenge and the tale tell signs indicate they might get it.

The Chiefs are playing well and coming off of a big win over Seattle. The Broncos are not playing well and coming off of a home loss to the now 5-6 Rams.

The Broncos are inconsistent. It’s hard to imagine them putting up the same performance especially in Kansas City under these circumstances.

Stats people love Kyle Orton. After all he has thrown for 3,370 yards and 20 touchdowns. He’s on pace to shatter his career highs in those categories but he might not get to see that happen. The real story isn’t about Orton’s flashy stats. Only 5 wins in 21 games is. John Elway used to have similar numbers for an entire season but he would have 11 or so wins to go along with it.

If Kansas City begins to route Denver like many think they will, then the Broncos will have to turn to their only hope, Tim Tebow.

One has to believe that Josh McDaniel’s is saving Tebow for just the right time. There might be no better time than Sunday afternoon in Kansas city.
